  • DOES GOD REALLY CARE

    "DOES GOD REALLY CARE?"
    1 PETER 5:6-11

INTRO: When going through difficult times people will often ask the question: "DOES GOD REALLY
CARE ABOUT WHAT I AM FACING?" Though that is an understandable question from the human
perspective, it is a question that should NEVER HAVE A DOUBTING ANSWER. YES! GOD DOES
CARE ABOUT EVERYTHING WE FACE! In fact, from the biblical perspective, GOD CARES FOR
US MORE THAN WE CARE FOR OURSELVES! That is proven by recognizing that GOD HAS GONE
OUT OF HIS WAY FOR US IN PROVIDING FOR US MORE THAN WE HAVE EVER DONE FOR
    OURSELVES.

  • THE CHURCH AND THE COMING ELECTION

"THE CHURCH AND THE COMING ELECTION"

INTRO: The upcoming national election is very significant and perhaps the MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION OF OUR LIFETIME. The issue of this election is not simply Democrat/Republican or Trump/Biden. It is the difference between RIGHTEOUSNESS AND UNRIGHETOUSNESS. THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST MUST BE INVOLVED IN THIS ELECTION FROM THE BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE! THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CANNOT FUNCTION WITHOUT THE CHURCH AND SINCE THIS ELECTION IS GOING TO DETERMINE THE DIRECTION OF THE NATION FOR YEARS TO COME, THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST MUST BE INVOLVED!

  • SPIRITUAL UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST

"SPIRITUAL UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST"
    PHILIPPIANS 2:1-4

INTRO: The Book of Philippians has a lot to say about JOY THAT STEMS FROM THE SUFFICIENCY OF CHRIST IN OUR LIVES. But one thing that robs Christians of JOY is DISUNITY! Today we are going to learn how to MAINTAIN BIBLICAL UNITY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST.
WARNING: One of the GREATEST DANGERS facing the Body of Christ is DISUNITY. DISUNITY will disrupt, weaken and destroy a Church through disharmony, conflict and division and should be avoided at all costs!
    OBSERVATIONS ON DISUNITY:
    1) DISUNITY in the Church deeply GRIEVES the Lord.
    2) DISUNITY in the Church is one of SATAN'S major Objectives.
    3) DISUNITY in the Church is an INDICATION of Spiritual Weakness.
    4) DISUNITY in the Church PREVENTS the advancement of the Gospel.
    OBSERVATIONS ON UNITY:
    1) UNITY in the Church is the KEY to effectiveness in the Church.
    2) UNITY in the Church was a PART of Christ's prayer for the Church
    -John 17:20-23
    3) UNITY in the Church is TWO-FOLD
    -Positional Unity - 1 Corinthians 12:13,14
    -Practical Unity - Ephesians 4:3-6
    4) UNITY in the Church is a MAJOR THEME of Paul's Epistles
    -Romans 15:5-7; 1 Corinthians 1:10; 2 Corinthians 13:11; Galatians 5:26;

“JOY IN THE BOOK OF PHILIPPIANS”
    PHILIPIANS 1:4;1:25;2:2;2:17;2:18;4:1

INTRO: There is a GOSPEL CHORUS we sing from time to time entitled: “IF YOU WANT JOY, REAL JOY” that says:
“IF YOU WANT JOY, REAL JOY, WONDERFUL JOY, LET JESUS COME INTO YOUR HEART.
IF YOU WANT JOY, REAL JOY, WONDERFUL JOY, LET JESUS COME INTO YOUR HEART.
YOUR SINS HE’LL WASH AWAY. YOUR NIGHT HE’LL TURN TO DAY, YOUR LIFE HE’LL MAKE IT OVER ANEW.

    TEXT: VERSE 1.

INTRO: Dr. John MacArthur said: "THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST IS UNDER ATTACK, JUST AS JESUS PREDICTED IT WOULD BE. IN JOHN 16:33 HE WARNED, 'IN THE WORLD YE SHALL HAVE TRIBULATION: BUT BE OF GOOD CHEER; I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD.' PAUL ECHOED THE LORD'S WARNING IN ACTS 14:22 WHEN HE SAID 'THROUGH TRIBULATION WE MUST ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD.', AND WROTE TO TIMOTHY, IN 2 TIMOTHY 3:12, 'YEA, AND ALL THAT WILL LIVE GODLY IN CHRIST JESUS SHALL SUFFER PERSECUTION.' TEXT: VERSE 10

INTRO: We have always been taught of the importance of setting goals in our life. Such is a good thing AS LONG AS THE GOALS ARE LED OF THE LORD AND ACCOMPLISHED BY THE STRENGTH OF THE LORD. But the GREATEST GOAL OF EVERY CHRISTIAN SHOULD BE TO BE LIKE JESUS CHRIST. To be like Christ was the GOAL OF THE APOSTLE PAUL, AND IS TO BE THE DESIRE OF GOD FOR EACH OF HIS CHILDREN AND SHOULD BE OUR PERSONAL DESIRE. OUR GOAL IS TO BE LIKE CHRIST! Let’s study and follow the example of the Apostle Paul to BE LIKE CHRIST.

    PHILIPPIANS 2:5-11
    TEXT: VERSES 5

INTRO: The Epistle of Paul to the Philippians teaches us "THE JOY OF THE CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCE AS IT RELATES TO CHRIST OUR SUFFICIENCY." The reality of that statement is seen in the CHRISTIAN'S EXPERIENCE THROUGH CHRIST (WHAT WE HAVE IN CHRIST) and the PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WE HAVE THROUGH OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST. Last week we noted that CHRIST IS OUR LIFE - 1:21. Today we will note that CHRIST IS OUR PATTERN - 2:5-12.

  • THE BIBLICAL TEACHING ON PLAGUES AND PESTILENCES

“THE BIBLICAL TEACHING ON PLAGUES AND PESTILENCES”
    GENESIS 12:10-20

INTRO: It is important for every Christian to live according to the BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW. In short, the BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW INVOLVES LOOKING AT EVERYTHING THROUGH THE EYES OF THE WORD OF GOD AND ORDERING ONE’S LIFE ACCORDINGLY. In every plan we consider, in every decision we make, in every attitude we have and in every thing we face we should ask, WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT IT? We are now several weeks into the COVID-19 VIRUS, something that has brought conditions into our world, our culture and our lives that we would have never considered. In reality, what we are facing is a PLAGUE. So the question is, “DOES THE BIBLE GIVE ANY TEACHING ABOUT THE EXISTENCE AND NATURE OF PLAGUES? The answer is, YES IT DOES! So, today we will consider THE BIBLICAL TEACHING ON PLAGUES, so that we may learn how to face COVID-19 BIBLICALLY.

    “ONE GREAT WEEK IN TIME”
ONE KING – ONE SACRIFICE – ONE RESURRECTION

INTRO: Did you ever have a week that was filled with activity and when you looked back upon it you marveled at all the quality work that was done? Well, the last week of Jesus Christ before His SACRIFICIAL DEATH AND GLORIOUS RESURRECTION was that kind of a week and was filled with very significant eternal and redemptive work. The last week before Christ’s death and resurrection is commonly referred to as THE WEEK OF HIS PASSION and included at least 50 events that culminated in THE RESURRECTION. In today’s message, let’s examine THREE OF THOSE GREAT EVENTS and what they mean to the eternal and redemptive work of Christ. THIS ONE GREAT WEEK IN TIME INVOLVED ONE KING, ONE SACRIFICE AND ONE RESURRECTION that changed the course of history.

    “THE BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW OF COVID-19”
    ROMANS 11:33-36

INTRO: WHY IS GOD ALLOWING COVID-19 TO CONTINUE? DOESN’T GOD KNOW HE IS MAKING IT DIFFICULT ON HUMANITY? DOESN’T GOD KNOW THAT MANY WILL BECOME SICK AND DIE? DOES GOD KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING? IS GOD IN CHARGE OR IS THE WORLD OUT OF CONTROL? The answer to those questions is that GOD IS ALLOWING COVID-19 FOR A PURPOSE. HE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT HE IS DOING. HE KNOWS WHAT THE OUTCOME WILL BE. HE IS IN CHARGE. AND WHEN HE IS READY, GOD WILL BRING COVID-19 TO AN END AND HE WILL BE GLORIFIED. Let’s take some time this morning to explain all of this.
A FACT: The answer to COVID-19 is found in the PROVIDENCE OF GOD.

INTRO: Over the past few weeks we have been involved in a series that, in many ways, will MAKE OR BREAK the spiritual life, service and testimony of many within our congregation. SERIES: TRUE SPIRITUALITY
    "EVIDENCES OF TRUE SPIRITUALLITY"
    ROMANS 8:1-17

INTRO: In our study on TRUE SPIRITUALITY we have noted that SPIRITUALLY SPEAKING God views the world as being made up of three categories of people: THE NATURAL (UNSAVED); THE CARNAL (IMMATURE CHRISTIANS); THE SPIRITUAL (MATURE CHRISTIANS). Without a doubt the category He is pleased with is the SPIRITUAL. Those who are SPIRITUAL maintain a VERY HIGH LEVEL of SPIRITUALITY and are great servants of God, being used by Him daily AS His representatives on Earth. By the way, UNDER WHICH CATEGORY DO YOU FALL? In our study we have defined SPIRITUALITY AS A GROWN-UP RELATIONSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT RESULTING IN MATURE CHRISTIAN LIVING. When a Christian is in that category, there will be CERTAIN EVIDENCES that will automatically be produced by the HOLY SPIRIT in their lives. Today we shall look at some of those EVIDENCES.
NOTE: There are many more evidences of SPIRITUALITY than what we could discuss in this sermon but what we examine today will give us an idea of what TRUE SPIRITUALITY looks like in our lives.

INTRO: As we look out upon the world we would say that there are many different types of individuals from different nations, different cultures, different races and different religions. But as God looks out upon the world, He sees the entire human race in only three separate categories based on their spiritual relationship with Him. In the text we have before us we see those three separate categories mentioned…THE NATURAL, THE SPIRITUAL and THE CARNAL. • GIVING TO GOD

    "GIVING TO GOD"
    LUKE 6:20-38
    TEXT: VERSE 38

    GENERAL OBSERVATIONS:
    1) God does not ask us to give to Him because He needs us. He is self-sufficient. But He asks us to give to Him so that we can share in what He is doing.
    2) God does not ask us to give to Him to GET from us. He has all He needs.
But He asks us to give to Him so that He can give back to us.
    3) God does not ask us to give to Him to burden us. He is the God of comfort. But He asks us to give to Him so that He can lighten our load.
    THE CONTEXT OF LUKE 6:20-38:
In the context, Jesus is giving THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT, in which He teaches on BASIC PRINCIPLES FOR GODLY LIVING. He ends His teaching on summarizing the BIBLICAL CONCEPT OF GIVING TO GOD
