"THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE"
INTRO: The VALUE OF LIFE seems to be under attack more and more these days. Whether it is in the form of BULLYING, CRITICIZING, DISHONORING OR KILLING, it seems as though the RESPECT FOR HUMAN LIFE is deteriorating as we go forward. But yet, from the biblical perspective, LIFE SHOULD BE RESPECTED meaning that things like bullying, criticizing, dishonoring and killing should simply not be practiced. Today is the SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY all across America when many pastors will be speaking on the subject. But the underlying question is WHY IS LIFE SANCTIFIED? That is what we are going to study today.

"WHAT TO DO WHEN THE PRAYING IS DONE"
(THE WEEK OF PRAYER IS OVER. NOW WHAT?)
INTRO: As a congregation, we have just spent a wonderful time in our ANNUAL WEEK OF PRAYER. The fellowship was great. The testimonies were God-honoring. The prayers were heart-felt. BUT NOW WHAT? What do we do when the praying is done? Let's consider that today.

“A LIFE CHARACTERIZED BY PRAYER”
1 THESSALONIANS 5:17
INTRODUCTION: 1 Thessalonians 5:17 speaks of a life CHARACTERIZED BY PRAYER, which involves being QUICK TO PRAY IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES, not just in emergencies. The phrase “WITHOUT CEASING” in our English Bible is one Greek word that describes a continual repeated action, like that of whooping cough. (Note 1 Thessalonians 1:3; 2:13)
OBSERVATION: “PRAY WITHOUT CEASING” does not mean to pray repetitiously or continually without a break, but….
-To pray persistently as in Luke 11:1-13 and 18:1-8.
-To pray regularly as in Ephesians 6:18 and Colossians 4:2, 12.

“INSIGHTS ON PRAYER”
1 KINGS 3:1-15
INTRO: Prayer is, by its very nature, a genuine part of the Christian Life as it involves talking with God our heavenly Father. But there are some questions we should consider:
1) What do we really know about the function and results of prayer?
2) Do we experience prayer on a daily basis? That is, do we depend upon it and utilize it as we should?
3) Do we attempt to get along without prayer?
4) How would you describe your prayer life?
5) What is the current effect of your prayer life?
To refresh our understanding on prayer to the point of being motivated to pray more effectively, let's observe some INSIGHTS ON PRAYER from 1 Kings 3.
