  • WHO ARE YOU ANYWAY

    WHO ARE YOU ANYWAY?
    1 CORINTHIANS 2:14-3:4

INTRO: As we look out upon the world we would say that there are many different types of individuals from different nations, different cultures, different races and different religions. But as God looks out upon the world, He sees the entire human race in only three separate categories based on their spiritual relationship with Him. In the text we have before us we see those three separate categories mentioned…THE NATURAL, THE SPIRITUAL and THE CARNAL. Everyone under the sound of my voice right now is ONE OF THOSE THREE CATEGORIES. WHAT ABOUT YOU? INTO WHAT CATEGORY DO YOU FALL? WHO ARE YOU ANYWAY?

  • GIVING TO GOD

    "GIVING TO GOD"
    LUKE 6:20-38
    TEXT: VERSE 38

    GENERAL OBSERVATIONS:
    1) God does not ask us to give to Him because He needs us. He is self-sufficient. But He asks us to give to Him so that we can share in what He is doing.
    2) God does not ask us to give to Him to GET from us. He has all He needs.
But He asks us to give to Him so that He can give back to us.
    3) God does not ask us to give to Him to burden us. He is the God of comfort. But He asks us to give to Him so that He can lighten our load.
    THE CONTEXT OF LUKE 6:20-38:
In the context, Jesus is giving THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT, in which He teaches on BASIC PRINCIPLES FOR GODLY LIVING. He ends His teaching on summarizing the BIBLICAL CONCEPT OF GIVING TO GOD

  • THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEMS OF THE WORLD

“THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEMS OF THE WORLD – PRAYER”
    1 TIMOTHY 2:1-8

INTRO: As we look around us, we can see that there are some very concerning things going on in the world. In almost every category of life, that is, in government, education, law, the media, medicine, the family and the church, many things are taking place that bring confusion and dismay to those who desire truth and righteousness. The question that is often asked is: “IS THERE ANY SOLUTION TO ALL THESE CONCERNING ISSUES?” The answer is YES and it really is not all that complicated. The passage we are going to look at today gives the SOLUTION. IT IS PRAYER!

  • PRAYER - A DIVINELY GIVEN OBLIGATION

"PRAYER - A DIVINELY GIVEN OBLIGATION"
    LUKE 18:1-8

NOTE: In the Context of this passage Jesus was emphasizing the necessity of prayer being a CONSTANT ACTIVITY in the life of the believer. In the 17th chapter, Jesus was speaking about the days before HIS SECOND COMING and He indicated that it would be a time like in the days of Lot and Noah when things were not conducive to RIGHTEOUSNESS AND GODLINESS. Practically speaking, that is where we are right now. And so Jesus was teaching that to face DIFFICULT DAYS, the ONLY ALTERNATIVE FOR VICTORY IS PRAYER!
CHRIST'S MESSAGE WAS VERY CLEAR: IF YOU DON'T PRAY, YOU WILL FAINT!

  • 20/20 VISION FOR THE YEAR 2020

"20/20 VISION FOR THE YEAR 2020"
    PROVERBS 29:18
    (A NEW YEAR’S THEME MESSAGE)

INTRO: Everyone likes to hear the eye doctor tell them that they have 20/20 vision. Having 20/20 vision means that you can see clearly at 20 feet what should normally be seen at that distance indicating that you have NORMAL VISUAL ACUITY. If you do not have 20/20 vision naturally, your optometrist will give you corrective lenses to adjust it accordingly so that you can see properly. We are now facing a BRAND NEW YEAR and would like to set as a CHURCH MOTTO for the year "HAVING 20/20 VISION FOR THE YEAR 20/20." That sounds inviting, but what does it mean? It means that around the church ministry our goal this year will be to SEE THE MATTERS OF GOD'S WORD WITH 20/20 SCRIPTURAL VISION AS WE GO THROUGHOUT THE YEAR 2020. Our key text for the year as well as this sermon is PROVERBS 29:18 that says, "WHERE THERE IS NO VISION, THE PEOPLE PERISH: BUT HE THAT KEEPETH THE LAW, HAPPY IS HE." Let's study this verse today to see how we can apply it to our personal and church life and ministry.
THE LITERAL HEBREW TRANSLATION: "WHERE HERE IS NO REVELATION THE PEOPLE CAST OFF RESTRAINT: BUT WHO KEEPS THE LAW HAPPY IS HE."
A BROAD APPLICATION: This verse has a three-fold application directed to EACH INDIVIDUAL CHRISTIAN, EACH LOCAL CHURCH, AND EACH NATION OF THE WORLD.
