• CONSIDER THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

"CONSIDER THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST"
    ACTS 1:1-11

INTRO: Over the past several weeks we have been focusing on the FIRST ADVENT of Jesus Christ into the world during the CHRISTMAS SEASON. But the SECOND ADVENT of Jesus Christ into the world is just as real and, from the perspective of the Word of God, could happen at any moment. As Christians, we look backward to the FIRST COMING OF CHRIST with GREAT JOY. And we should look forward to the SECOND COMING OF CHRIST with JOY as well. This will be our study for today.

  • JESUS WAS BORN TO DIE - CHRIST'S BIRTH - LIFE – DEATH

    "JESUS WAS BORN TO DIE"
    CHRIST'S BIRTH - LIFE – DEATH

INTRO: The Christmas season is the time to remember what all JESUS CHRIST HAS DONE FOR US BY COMING TO THE EARTH. This Christmas our theme has been that JESUS WAS BORN TO DIE. Today, to continue and support that theme, we are going to briefly consider THE BIRTH, THE LIFE AND THE DEATH of our Lord and show how it relates to His overall mission to provide SALVATION FOR THE ENTIRE WORLD.
NOTE: Our study of the BIRTH, THE LIFE AND THE DEATH OF CHRIST will come from look at the GOSPEL OF LUKE.

  • FOR HE SHALL SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS

"FOR HE SHALL SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS"
    MATTHEW 1:18-25
    TEXT: VERSE 21

INTRO: As we get closer and closer to Christmas many events are going on and many thoughts are filling our minds with many things we have to do between now and then. This time of the year is normally very busy and sometimes I think it gets so busy that we forget what the season is really all about. Though this time of the year is filled with a myriad of activities, the real purpose is to focus on and honor Christ as we celebrate His INCARNATION. In celebrating Christ's INCARNATION, we do well to remember WHY HE CAME INTO THE WORLD. Matthew 1:21 teaches Jesus Christ came into the world to "SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS." Let's focus on that great truth today.

  • CHRIST CAME TO SEEK AND SAVE THOSE WHO ARE LOST

"CHRIST CAME TO SEEK AND SAVE THOSE WHO ARE LOST"
    LUKE 19:1-10
    TEXT: VERSE 10

INTRO: Our theme during this Christmas season is focused on the work of Christ that began with His incarnation. That is, He was "BORN TO DIE." Truly Jesus Christ came into this world, not to be placed in a manger, but to go to the cross to provide REDEMPTION FOR ALL MANKIND. Today we shall focus a "sub-theme" of the overall emphasis for this Christmas season and that is that CHRIST CAME TO SEEK AND TO SAVE THOSE WHO ARE LOST. Indeed we should PRAISE THE LORD for that, but WHAT ALL DOES IT INVOLVE? Let's Consider.
OBSERVATION: The text before us speaks of the tax collector ZACCHAEUS having a great desire to see Jesus that he climbed up into a sycamore tree to get a good view of the Lord. The event ended by Jesus going to his house and ZACCHAEUS getting saved.

  • JESUS CHRIST WAS BORN TO DIE

"JESUS CHRIST WAS BORN TO DIE"
    ROMANS 5:1-11

INTRO: It is a true statement that from the moment we are born, we are in the process of dying. But while we are alive God has a plan and a purpose for each of us to fulfill and He works in us to perform that plan and purpose (Philippians 1:6 and 2:13). However, when we look upon the Lord Jesus Christ, we find that THE VERY REASON FOR HIS BIRTH WAS TO DIE...TO DIE FOR THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD...TO DIE FOR YOUR SINS...TO DIE FOR MY SINS. WHAT A MISSION AND PURPOSE FOR HIS LIFE! FROM ETERNITY PAST JESUS KNEW THAT HE WOULD EVENTUALLY BE BORN ON EARTH WITH THE PURPOSE OF GOING TO THE CROSS TO DIE FOR ALL MANKIND. Today we shall study from the pages of scripture the very serious and significant concept that JESUS WAS BORN TO DIE FOR US ALL. But WHY WAS CHRIST BORN TO DIE UPON THE EARTH?

  • The Biblical Preparation For Celebrating Christmas

"THE BIBLICAL PREPARATION FOR CELEBRATING CHRISTMAS"
    MATTHEW 1:18-25; LIKE 2:1-20

INTRO: We have now entered the CHRISTMAS SEASON for 2018. All around the world Christians will be celebrating Christmas in various ways according to their traditions. Even within our own Country and right here within our own church, different people have different ways to celebrate Christmas. Some people put a lot into celebrating Christmas. Some people put very little into celebrating Christmas. Some people do not celebrate Christmas at all. But one thing for certain is that OUR CELEBRATION OF CHRISTMAS SHOULD BE CHRIST-CENTERED AND NOT SELF-CENTERED. HOW CAN WE HAVE A CHRIST-CENTERED CELEBRATION OF CHRISTMAS? It all has to do with WHERE WE PUT OUR FOCUS.

  • BE YE THANKFUL

    "BE YE THANKFUL"
    COLOSSIANS 1:12-14

INTRO: The THANKSGIVING SEASON is a GREAT time of year. And there are SO MANY THINGS for which we
can be thankful, particularly those of us who live in America. We can trace the THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY back to the days of the PILGRIMS, when they gave thanks unto God for His provision on their behalf. In fact, the FIRST
THANKSGIVING took place in 1621 with the PILGRIMS and the WAMPANOAG INDIANS, when over 100 people
attended. VENISON topped the menu and they ate for THREE CONSECUTIVE DAYS. The gathering was not
necessarily referred to as THANKSGIVING, but as a feast it was conducted regularly until 1863 when PRESIDENT
ABRAHAM LINCOLN OFFICIALLY DECLARED THANKSGIVING AS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY. So many times
the focus of our THANKSGIVING is on the physical, and it is right and important to do so. But today, I would like for us to FOCUS ON SPIRITUAL REASONS FOR GIVING THANKS. In doing so, we will look at the PRAYER OF THE
APOSTLE PAUL for the CHRISTIANS AT COLOSSEE.

  • A MEASURE OF FAITH

     "A MEASURE OF FAITH"

    ROMANS 12:1-8

    TEXT: VERSE 3

INTRO: Everything we have in the Christian life has been given to us by the GRACE OF GOD! That is taught numerous times throughout scripture. But, one verse that brings it all together is Romans 12:3. In that verse, we see it clearly presented that EVERY ELEMENT OF OUR SALVATION IS A GIFT OF GOD, AND THEREFORE, WE MUST REFUSE TO BE PROUD OVER WHAT WE HAVE IN CHRIST, AND HUMBLE OURSELVES BEFORE GOD IN A THANKFUL SPIRIT FOR ALL HE HAS GIVEN US. In short, God, by His grace, has given us a "MEASURE OF FAITH," in order to be saved and serve Him. Let's observe this rich text in the message today.

  • NO CONDEMNATION IN CHRIST JESUS

    “NO CONDEMNATION IN CHRIST JESUS”
    ROMANS 8:1-4

INTRO: One of the GREAT DOCTRINAL TRUTHS OF CHRISTIANITY IS THAT THE MOMENT WE RECEIVE CHRIST AS OUR SAVIOR, WE ARE NO LONGER CONDEMNED UNDER THE WRATH OF GOD TO HELL. This should result in a life of PRAISE AND COMMITMENT TO CHRIST.

  • PRAYING FOR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS

    "PRAYING FOR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS"
    ACTS 12:1-19

INTRO: Christians remain one of the MOST PERSECUTED RELIGIOUS GROUPS in the world. In fact, it has been said that MORE CHRISTIANS ARE BEING PERSECUTED AROUND THE WORLD NOW THAN EVER BEFORE IN HISTORY. Recently I spoke with Todd Nettleton, with the VOICE OF THE MARTYRS, who confirmed this statement. Christians throughout the world continue to risk imprisonment, loss of home and assets, torture, beheadings, rape and even death just because of their FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST. TRENDS show that in CERTAIN AFRICAN NATIONS persecution is INTENSIFYING, particularly among women. Every day NEW REPORTS OF CHRISTIANS BEING PERSECUTED ARE REPORTED. The OPEN DOORS WORLD WATCH organization has reported that EACH MONTH:
    ● 255 Christians are killed
    ● 104 Christians are abducted
    ● 180 Christian women are sexually harassed
    ● 66 Christian churches are attacked
    ● 160 Christians are detained without a trial and imprisoned
