“THE GODLY WOMAN OF PROVERBS”
INTRO: In searching the scriptures we find that God has given a lot of information on the role of the man, the woman and the children in the family relationship. One book that is rich with teaching familial and personal qualities is the Book of Proverbs. Today we are going to WALK THROUGH PROVERBS to see what it has to say about the GODLY WOMAN.

"THE GOOD WORK OF GOD IN THE LIFE OF THE BELIEVER"
INTRO: In Genesis chapter one, as God performed the various acts of creation, it is stated over and over again that what God did was good. Upon the creation of Adam, the Bible not only says it was good, but that it was VERY GOOD! Without a doubt we can say that EVERY WORK OF GOD IS GOOD because God does not fail, God does not mess up and God does not give up! This is also true in the LIFE OF THE BELIEVER. WHAT GOD BEGINS IN US AT THE POINT OF SALVATION HE WILL COMPLETE AND NOTHING CAN OR WILL STOP HIM AND THAT WORK WILL BE VERY GOOD! This is the teaching of Philippians 1:6 that we shall study today.
NOTE: Philippians 1:6 begins with the phrase "BEING CONFIDENT" which means to "BE PERSUADED" and have "DEFINITE ASSURANCE" that what God begins HE WILL SEE TO THE END AND COMPLETE! In this text, it means that what God has started in the life of each believer God will finish.

“THE JOY OF DOING EVANGELISM”
2 TIMOTHY 4:5c
INTRO: Perhaps one of the reasons why many Christians neglect doing evangelism is because they do not understand the JOY THAT IT BRINGS. Therefore, let’s consider the JOY OF DOING EVANGELISM. Carefully and prayerfully considering these biblical principles may motivate us all to become more involved with God’s plan for each of us to do our part in REACHING THE WORLD FOR CHRIST!

"THE INVOLVEMENT OF EFFECTIVE EVANGELISM"
INTRO: The Bible is VERY CLEAR on the necessity of EVANGELISM and the fact that EVERY CHRISTIAN is to be involved in it some particular way. But WHAT DOES EVANGELISM INVOLVE? In Luke 15:1-10 Jesus is presenting the two parables of THE LOST SHEEP and THE LOST COIN in which He gives some great teaching on the INVOLVEMENT OF EFFECTIVE EVANGELISM. Let's observe the LESSONS Christ gives to us.
THE DEFINITION OF EVANGELISM: Evangelism means "TO PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST TO LOST PEOPLE EVERYWHERE WITH THE INTENT OF LEADING THEM TO CHRIST AND MAKING THEM HIS DISCIPLES."

“THE BIBLICAL REASONS TO EVANGELIZE”
2 CORINTHIANS 5:17-21
INTRO: Every Christian knows that it is the responsibility of believers in Christ to EVANGELIZE. BUT WHY? Today we shall consider THE BIBLICAL REASONS TO EVANGELIZE.
WHAT IS EVANGELISM?
1) The Word Evangelism: The English word EVANGELISM comes from the Greek word “EUAGGELION” which means literally “TO GOSPELIZE” and is mentioned 127 times in the New Testament and is often translated “TO PREACH.” Note Luke 4:43.
2) The Action of Evangelism: Some Different explanations:
To announce or proclaim the good news of Jesus
To lead people to acknowledge Christ as Savior
To seek and to find the lost and present the Gospel to them
To present Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit so that people will become His disciples
“TO PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST TO LOST PEOPLE EVERYWHERE WITH THE INTENT OF LEADING THEM TO CHRIST AND MAKING THEM HIS DISCIPLES.”

"THREE GREAT ELEMENTS SURROUNDING THE CROSS"
1 CORINTHIANS 15:1-8
INTRO: Turning the calendar back by about 2000 years and according to the biblical time line of Christ's life on earth, we are now nearing the end, BUT coming to the most significant part of His redemptive work. Christ has spent 33 1/2 years on earth and THREE OF THOSE YEARS WERE IN PUBLIC MINISTRY during which time many rejected His message, many were not sure about Him, and a small number of others believed upon Him. His ministry life was filled with DIVINE THEOLOGICAL TEACHINGS and GREAT MIRACULOUS WORKS THAT PROVED THAT HE TRULY IS THE SON OF GOD, THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD AND THE MESSIAH THE JEWS HAD BEEN ANTICIPATING. During the TRIUMPHAL ENTRY into Jerusalem many called upon Jesus to save them and gave Him praise as being the KING FROM HEAVEN. But as the week after that great event wore on, the Jewish leaders that had gathered in Jerusalem for THE FEAST OF THE PASSOVER lead the charge to CRUCIFY HIM, because He was not the MESSIAH they desired. So, on Thursday evening and Friday morning Jesus was falsely tried under Herod and Pilate and was sentenced to be beaten and crucified, which according to the PROPHETIC SCRIPTURES, was ALL a part of the PLAN of God to provide REDEMPTION FOR MANKIND. For sure, we all know the Gospel accounts of the DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURRECTION OF CHRIST very well, but as we come into 1 CORINTHIANS 15, which I often refer to as THE RESURRECTION CHAPTER, we have a very clear presentation of the effect of Christ's redemptive work. Therefore today, on this RESURRECTION SUNDAY, we are going to look at the first part of this great chapter and observe THREE GREAT ELEMENTS SURROUNDING THE CROSS that contributed to the effect of Christ's REDEMPTIVE WORK.

"JESUS PRESENTS HIMSELF TO JERUSALEM"
INTRO: Jesus had been traveling up and down the land of Israel for a little over three years. During that time there were many who recognized Him as the Lord, the Savior and the Messiah and followed him because of that (John 1:35-51). Many others saw Him as a miracle worker and faithfully followed Him expecting to see Him do great things, but He did not commit Himself to them (John 2:23-25). But most of the people, under the leadership of the Jewish priests and Pharisees, rejected Him, hated Him and desired to kill Him (John 7:19). During those three years Jesus healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, forgave sinners, reached out to the poor and raised the dead. Most of the people denied that He was the Christ. Some undoubtedly believed upon Him but did not express their belief. There were those who secretly recognized that Jesus was the Savior. Even though Jesus came to the Jews as their Messiah, most of the people outright rejected Him. But on this day, THE 9TH DAY OF NISAN, 30 AD, Jesus went into Jerusalem in a public manner near the end of His earthly ministry to PRESENT HIMSELF TO THE JEWS AT JERUSALEM just as the FEAST OF THE PASSOVER was coming into fruition for that year. Let's observe this event, as we do each year at this time, to learn some more lessons about WHO CHRIST IS.

"TAKING A CLOSER LOOK AT THE BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW"
2 PETER 1:12-21
INTRO: Throughout the current year of 2018, our theme here at FBC is built around the concept of BIBLICAL APOLOGETICS, that is, making a commitment to DEFEND OUR FAITH in a world that denies absolute truth. The biblical admonition for APOLOGETICS is found, among other places, in 1 Peter 3:15 where it says, "BUT SANCTIFY THE LORD GOD IN YOUR HEARTS: AND BE READY ALWAYS TO GIVE AN ANSWER TO EVERY MAN THAT ASKETH YOU A REASON OF THE HOPE THAT IS IN YOU WITH MEEKNESS AND FEAR." Having recognized that, the FOUNDATION OF APOLOGETICS is that of having a BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW! Over the years, we have talked about a BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW a lot, but every now and then, it is good for us to examine ourselves to see if we are truly living according to THE BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW. So, today, let's TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE BIBLICAL WORLD VIEW to see if we are ordering our lives accordingly.

“TWO REFORMING QUESTIONS”
INTRO: Very few people in the HISTORY OF THE WORLD have experienced a REFORMED LIFE like that of THE APOSTLE PAUL! The VERY FIRST MENTION of Saul, as he was known before his salvation, is when the FIRST MARTYR, STEPHEN, was stoned in Acts 7:58, where it says of Saul, “AND THE WITNESSES LAID DOWN THEIR CLOTHES AT A YOUNG MAN'S FEET, WHOSE NAME WAS SAUL.” (Paul was probably around 30 years of age). Then, after the scripture gives the record of Stephen’s martyrdom, in Acts 8:1 it says, “AND SAUL WAS CONSENTING TO HIS DEATH.” (Cp. 8:1-3) Let’s consider some facts about Saul, who became the Apostle Paul:

"LOVING THE LORD AND RESPONDING TO HIS BENEFITS"
INTRO: Do you love the Lord? Over the years I have been asked many times by believers, "HOW CAN I LOVE THE LORD?" In reality, LOVING THE LORD is an ACT OF OBEDIENCE to a great command (Deut. 6:5) but should also be a DESIRE and a NATURAL RESPONSE to what the Lord has done for us. Psalm 116 not only gives us reasons to love the Lord but shows how we should respond to the great benefits He gives us throughout life. Let’s take a look to see what it teaches us.
OBSERVATIONS ON THE PSALM:
1) By reading through the text of the Psalm, we see it is a very personal "THANK YOU" for the Lord’s deliverance of the author.
2) The human author of the Psalm is not known, but it is believed to be JONAH’S prayer and discussion with God while he was in the big fish.
3) Without a doubt it is a Psalm to be sung by those who have watched the Lord work in their lives and want to respond to Him accordingly.
