"UNDERSTANDING THE CHRISTIAN LIFE"
1 CORINTHIANS 6:1-20
INTRO: There is a problem that persists within the realm of Christianity that has existed since the BIRTH OF THE CHURCH in Acts 2. And that is the fact that many, if not most Christians DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE CHRISTIAN LIFE.
They know that they are SAVED FROM SIN AND HELL and ARE BOUND FOR HEAVEN, but many of the elements of their CHRISTIAN LIFE they fail to understand. That results in DEFEATED CHRISTIAN LIVING! Let's examine the scriptures to see what it says about the REALITY OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE.
OBSERVATION: In 1 Corinthians 6 there are FIVE "KNOW YE NOTS" that every believer should digest.
1) "KNOW YE NOT" that we should not take our Brothers and sisters to a Court of Law - Vss. 1-7
2) "KNOW YE NOT" that the Unrighteous (Unsaved) will not Inherit the Kingdom of God Vss. 9,10
3) "KNOW YE NOT" that our Body belongs to Christ - Vs. 15
4) "KNOW YE NOT" that illicit sex creates a union of one Body - Vs. 16
5) "KNOW YE NOT" that our Body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit - Vss. 19,20

"THE TRUE CHRISTIAN WALK"
INTRO: If you were to receive an evaluation FROM GOD concerning your PERSONAL CHRISTIAN
LIFE today, WHAT WOULD IT BE LIKE? The scripture is very clear that each of us as believers are to
reflect Christ in our daily living. (Philippians 1:27; 1 Thessalonians 4:12; 1 Timothy 3:7; 2 Peter 3:11).
BUT DO WE DO SO? Simple Observation and Significant Research reveals that a huge percentage of
Christianity often reflects more of the WORLD rather than the LORD.
● Simple Observation: Language, Dress, Culture, Attitudes, Actions
● Significant Research: "Christianity Today." George Barna Research
-The Lord Jesus teaches in Matthew 5:13-16 that Christians are to be the Salt of the Earth and the Light of
the World....BUT ARE WE?
-The Apostle Paul teaches in 2 Corinthians 5:20 that Christians are to be Ambassadors for Christ...BUT
-The Epistle of Jude 3 teaches that Christians are to Earnestly Contend for the Faith...BUT DO WE?

"MORE THAN CONQUERORS THROUGH CHRIST"
INTRO: Many of us as Christians FAIL TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION what all we have in Christ. The reality is that we have so many blessings through Christ that we could no doubt ever be able to count them. 1 John 5:4 says: "FOR WHATSOEVER IS BORN OF GOD OVERCOMETH THE WORLD." That statement in and of itself carries a lot of SPIRITUAL GOLDEN NUGGETS. Today we are going to talk about the fact that THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST, WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERERS.
1) CONQUOR - "To gain a victory over; to win a war; to be victorious."
2) CONQUEROR - "A person who conquers or vanquishes."
3) CONQUEROR IN GREEK TEXT: "To vanquish beyond; to gain a decisive victory.
NOTE: In essence to be MORE THAN A CONQUEROR means that in the spiritual battles we face as Christians on earth we have the POTENTIAL TO NEVER LOSE. And, ultimately for eternity, we are SURELY CONQUERORS OVER SIN AND DEATH.

"FIGHTING OUR SPIRITUAL WARFARE VICTORIOUSLY"
2 CORINTHIANS 10:1-6
INTRO: ARE YOU AWARE OF THE SPIRITUAL BATTLE YOU FACE DAY BY DAY AS A CHRISTIAN? MANY CHRISTIANS ARE NOT! AND YET OUR SPIRITUAL BATTLE IS AS REAL AS LIFE ITSELF. As a Christian, EVERYTHING YOU DO IS A SPIRITUAL MATTER because YOU ARE ALIVE SPIRITUALLY through Faith in Jesus Christ. And thus every moment of every day every Christian is in a SPIRITUAL BATTLE.
● The Spiritual Battle with Self
● The Spiritual Battle at Home
● The Spiritual Battle at Work
● The Spiritual Battle at School
● The Spiritual Battle Right Now
Satan himself is the NUMBER ONE OBJECT behind our Spiritual Battles and is out to destroy us. Thus it is very significant that each of us know how to RECOGNIZE AND FIGHT OUR SPIRITUAL WARFARE VICTORIOUSLY.

"YOUR RESPONSE TO GOD"
INTRO: Throughout our lives we are always responding to some person, some idea or some thing that ultimately dictates the way we order our lives. Many of the things we face deserve a response and many do not. BUT ONE THING IS FOR CERTAIN AND THAT IS THAT IT IS VERY SIGNIFICANT THAT WE RESPOND TO GOD AND DO SO BIBLICALLY!
QUESTION: HOW ARE YOU RESPONDING TO GOD RIGHT NOW?
OBSERVATION: OUR RESPONSE TO GOD SHOULD NOT BE BASED UPON WHAT WE WANT HIM TO DO FOR US, BUT RATHER UPON WHO HE IS AND WHAT HE EXPECTS AND THEN MOTIVATED BY WHAT HE HAS DONE, IS DOING, AND WILL DO FOR US.

"SPIRITUAL EXERCISE FOR UNSPIRITUAL TIMES"
1 TIMOTHY 4:1-16
INTRO: In order to prepare for life's PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES, it is IMPORTANT for us to be as PHYSICALLY FIT as possible...and we do so through PHYSICAL EXERCISE. In a SIMILAR WAY, in order to prepare for life's SPIRITUAL ACTIVITIES, it is important for us to be as SPIRITUALLY FIT as possible. And because of the SINFUL DAYS in which we live, it is urgent that we be SPIRITUALLY FIT for the SPIRITUAL BATTLES we face daily.
-The Condition of the "LATTER TIMES." Vss. 1-3
1) OUR PHYSICAL LIVES FACE CHALLENGES:
-The issues that attack us physically (Diseases, Body Deterioration, etc.)
2) OUR SPIRITUAL LIVES FACE CHALLENGES:
-The issues that attack us spiritually (Apostasy, Personal Temptations, etc.)
-AS PHYSICAL EXERCISE IS NECESSARY FOR PHYSICAL LIVING, SO IS SPIRITUAL EXERCISE NECESSARY FOR SPIRITUAL LIVING.

"THE HEAVENLY FOCUS FOR THE GODLY CHRISTIAN"
INTRO: I want to begin today by asking you a series of questions:
1) What are your Goals in Life?
2) What do you Love in Life?
3) What gives you Security in Life?
4) What do you Look Forward to in Life?
NOTE: Our POSITION in Christ and RELATIONSHIP with Christ will determine the answers to those questions which will be SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT to those who do now KNOW or LOVE the Lord. In fact, the answers to those questions will INDICATE what our relationship to the Lord is.
1) The Unsaved folks will give SECULAR ANSWERS.
2) The Immature Christian will give CARNAL ANSWERS.
3) The Mature Christian will give SPIRITUAL ANSWERS.

I. A NATION THAT IS BLESSED BY GOD
OBSERVATION: THE UNITED STATES HAS BEEN BLESSED BY GOD LIKE NO OTHER NATION ON THE EARTH AND HAS BEEN USED OF GOD TO BLESS ALL OTHER NATIONS OF THE WORLD.

III. A NATION THAT IS REVIVED BY GOD

"GOD'S KIND OF MEN"
2 SAMUEL 10:1-19
(A FATHERS DAY SERMON)
INTRO: On Fathers Day it is common for us to HONOR THOSE FATHERS who have been faithful to the Lord and His Word. Truly it is a blessing to do so and is something that should be done MORE THAN ONCE A YEAR. Both MEN AND WOMEN are essential in the EYES OF THE LORD, and neither is MORE OR LESS IMPORTANT THAN THE OTHER. From the BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE, the roles of both MEN AND WOMEN are ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY if society is to function properly. THEREFORE:
1) Men and Women must know their biblical and God-given roles in life.
-Genesis 2:18; 1 Timothy 5:8,14
2) Men and Women must remain as they are created by God.
3) Men and Women ONLY must marry and build families.
According to the Scripture, God has given MEN the responsibility to lead in the FAMILY, the GOVERNMENT, and the HOME in such a way so as to strengthen society and glorify Him. But WHAT KIND OF MEN DOES GOD WANT? That is going to be the essence of our study this morning from 2 Samuel 10.
