• BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD

    by

For centuries the Nation of Israel had been used to using LAMBS as a part of their God-Designed sacrificial system that atoned for their sin. Those LAMBS, even though they were without spot or blemish as an animal, were very inadequate to totally take away the sins of the people. In fact, those sacrifices ONLY covered the sins of the people while looking forward to the coming of the PROMISED MESSIAH who would offer the ultimate sacrifice that would completely remove the sin of those who believed. As we come into the text before us we see the OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE TRUE LAMB OF GOD, JESUS CHRIST, WHO WAS SENT INTO THE WORLD TO PROVIDE THAT ULTIMATE SACRIFICE. That official announcement was made by the FORERUNNER OF CHRIST, JOHN THE BAPTIST. Let’s take a look at how the scene developed.

  • I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD

    by

As we come to the conclusion of our service today we are going to focus on one more PHRASES that relates to the work of Christ on the Cross. It is found in John 10:11 where Jesus says, “I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD; THE GOOD SHEPHER GIVETH HIS LIFE FOR HIS SHEEP.” That statement sort of summarizes the work and the reason for which Jesus went to the cross.

  • CHRIST THE KING

    by
Our hymn book includes a good number of songs that speak concerning the KINGSHIP OF CHRIST. For instance: “REJOICE THE LORD IS KING.” “CROWN HIM WITH MANY CROWNS.” “ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS’ NAME.” In addition to that, the Bible has a lot to say about the KINGSHIP OF CHRIST because in the future He will reign as KING over all the earth, and then throughout all of eternity! Jesus Christ indeed is KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS! Having said that, there have always been those who have rejected the KINGSHIP OF CHRIST! The Jews rejected His KINGSHIP when He was on earth, and many refuse to recognize His KINGSHIP in our modern times. However, the Bible teaches that the time will come when EVERY ONE IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH WILL RECOGNIZE THE KINGSHIP OF CHRIST AND BOW BEFORE HIM IN HOMAGE, WORSHIP AND SUBMISSION. Today is Palm Sunday in which we look back to THE TRIUMPHAL ENTRY OF CHRIST INTO JERUSALEM nearly 2000 years ago when He presented Himself as the KING OF THE JEWS! CHRIST’S KINGSHIP was rejected by most of the Jews then and consequently He was crucified on the CROSS OF CALVARY just a few days later. This morning we shall focus on what the WORD OF GOD says about CHRIST THE KING with intent that we all will submit to HIS KINGSHIP in worship, praise and service. HAVE YOU SUBMITTED TO THE KINGSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST?

  • OUR WONDERFUL LORD

    by

From time to time in Bible study one will come across a verse that really gets one’s attention because it says something profound about God.  Isaiah 12:2 is one of those verses.  Isaiah 12:2 is so RICH, so POWERFUL, so FULL, so DEEP with truth about God that is would take an eternity to expound upon it to any measure of completeness.  Let’s take a look at it today.

  • THE CALL OF THE CHRISTIAN

    by

There is no doubt that the best thing a person can do is to TRUST JESUS CHRIST AS SAVIOR and become a Christian. The benefits and blessings of being a Christian are far beyond our ability to count, even if we had all eternity to do so. Some of the things we experience as Christians we never study, think of or hardly ever thing about. Other things we experience we may think of from time to time but do not put forth much effort to understand some of those things. One of the things most Christians have LITTLE UNDERSTANDING OF is the CALL OF THE CHRISTIAN. For instance, WHAT IS THE CALL OF THE CHRISTIAN? Or, WHAT IS THE CHRISTIAN CALLING? Is there any difference between the two? Perhaps many have never really thought that through too much. So, today as we continue in 1 Corinthians we shall focus on verse 9b or chapter 1 where the Word of God speaks of the CALL OF THE CHRISTIAN.

  • THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD

    by

One of the UNFORTUNATE aspects of our society is that we live in a VERY UNFAITHFUL CULTURE. Too often we hear of situations where someone has made a commitment to another person only to change his mind, forget the commitment, or just decide not to do what was promised. This is done in every level of society from the personal to the family to the job to the church and to the government. Being faithful is a measure of integrity that God expects every one of His children to have.

    by

Tucked deep in the heart of God is the idea of missions. In both the Old and the New Testaments the mission of telling others about GOD’S TRUTH is clearly evident. Passages like Psalm 96:3; Isaiah 45:20-25; Matthew 28:19,20; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 all illustrate that during every dispensation GOD EXPECTED HIS PEOPLE TO BE INVOLVED IN MISSIONS.

    by

To be a BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST is an amazing thing to consider.  All of us are born into sin, but through simple child-like faith, at the point of CALLING UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD TO SAVE US, we are transferred from being a CHILD OF SATAN to a CHILD OF GOD!  At that point, according to 2 Corinthians 5:17 everything changes: Our life.

“BACK TO THE BIBLE: READ, STUDY, AND OBEY.”  WHAT A THEME!  PSALM 119:11 – “THY WORD HAVE I HID IN MINE HEART, THAT I MIGHT NOT SIN AGAINST THEE.”  WHAT A TEXT!  In my opinion the combination of this theme and this text for this convention is  TIMELY, PRACTICAL AND VERY MUCH NEEDED!  Psalm 119:11 is a verse I learned as a child in Sunday School over 50 years ago at the Indian Creek Baptist Church in Mill Run and HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN IT!  Perhaps many of you could share a similar story. And yet, there are many children and young people in PA who do not even know that verse exists.  As we consider this theme and this text this evening let’s commit ourselves to the truth both convey without hesitation or compromise. In doing so we will not only benefit our lives for the glory of God, but also be a spiritual blessing to others in our communities, our churches and our Sunday Schools.

During those years, it was not always easy for Him.  The Bible tells us that Jesus had no place to call home.  He had very few possessions.  Many people hated Him.  The leaders of Israel had rejected Him.  He gained very few committed followers.  And now, He was on His way to Jerusalem to go to the cross and die!  But as He entered Jerusalem, on what is called THE TRIUMPHAL ENTRY that probably took place on SUNDAY, THE 9TH OF NISAN (APRIL), 30 AD, things changed, at least for the moment!
