A SERIES OF SERMONS DESIGNED TO PREPARE CHRISTIANS FOR THE FULFILLMENT OF BIBLE PROPHECY, THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH AND THE RETURN OF CHRIST TO THE EARTH.
For years I can remember discussions and sermons being preached on prophecy and the return of Jesus Christ to the Earth. As a child growing up I can remember my parents speaking with my PASTOR GRANDFATHER about Ezekiel 38 & 39 and the BATTLE OF GOG AND MAGOG as well as the BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON. I can recall with clarity evangelists preaching on the END OF TIME and can even remember the first time I heard a preacher back in 1964 set a date for the RETURN OF CHRIST which was to be in 1967.

Over the past week Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church came to the United States and visited Washington, DC, New York City and Philadelphia. His visit to America has been widely covered by all the press to the point that one FOX news reporter said this week it is "ALL POPE ALL THE TIME," and that is about right. No matter what denomination one may be, the Roman Catholic Pope has captured the attention of all American people, both secular and spiritual. Let's sake some time to examine the Pope's visit from the biblical perspective.

It is common to hear people say "THE FUTURE OF THE CHURCH AND OUR NATION IS OUR CHILDREN." That is so very true but the question we must ask is "WHERE ARE OUR CHILDREN?" For the sake of this sermon today let's be more personal and ask "WHERE ARE YOUR CHILDREN?

Biblical MISSIONS, as defined and described in the Word of God, is to be a VERY VITAL PART OF THE LIFE OF EVERY CHRISTIAN AND EVERY LOCAL CHURCH. Unfortunately that IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE!

There are many people who would say they are “BELIEVERS IN JESUS CHRIST” who may NOT actually be BELIEVERS IN CHRIST at all, at least in the BIBLICAL SENSE. A genuine BELIEVER IN CHRIST is NOT one who just recognizes that Jesus: 1) Existed as a prophet or religious teacher, or 2) Died for His cause, or 3) Taught great principles for life, or is 4) Savior of the world.

One of the most difficult trials Christians face is that of LIVING AT PEACE WITH OTHERS! Whether it is in the home, in the church, on the job, at the school or in society LIVING AT PEACE WITH OTHERS CAN BE A REAL TASK AT TIMES! And yet the Bible says in Romans 12:18, "IF IT BE POSSIBLE, AS MUCH AS LIETH IN YOU, LIVE PEACEABLE WITH ALL MEN."

On LABOR DAY we celebrate and honor those who have been a part of the work force that has made America great. In my opinion, such honor is needed and should be encouraged. A good work ethic is VERY BIBLICAL as the Word of God teaches in 2 Thessalonians 3:10, "IF ANY WOULD NOT WORK, NEITHER SHOULD HE EAT."

In many ways it could be said that the BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST is the RICHEST AND MOST BLESSED PERSON ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. At times as we look around us and see the "apparent" prosperity of the godless, that may be difficult to realize. Nevertheless it is true that THE BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST HAS MORE IN LIFE AND ETERNITY THAN THE UNBELIEVER WILL EVER BEGIN TO IMAGINE OR EXPERIENCE! One passage of scripture that solidifies that reality is Ephesians 1:1-14 where the Holy Spirit led the Apostle Paul to speak of the SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS OF THE BELIEVER. This text should prove not only to be an academic study of the scripture, but also a passage of GREAT ENCOURAGEMENT as we learn more about what we have in Christ. As the old spiritual song says, "IT IS A GRAND THING TO BE A CHRISTIAN," this text relates to us why that is the case.
